Kolumbus

Illustration System for Kolumbus

Kolumbus blends bus, boat, train, bike-share and car-share into one mobility service, but explaining that complexity to staff and presenters was hard. TRY built a flexible, modular illustration system, stylised but recognisable, that could be recombined into full cityscapes to tell Kolumbus's story of a greener, more sustainable future.

Challenge, solution, results

Challenge

Kolumbus coordinates buses, boats, trains, cycling, walking and car-sharing into one mobility service, but explaining that complexity to its own staff and to presenters was hard. The company needed a way to make its multimodal role legible: something that showed how every mode fit together, rather than describing each one in isolation.

Solution

TRY built a flexible, modular illustration system for presentations, film and animation. Each vehicle, bus, boat, train, city bike, stayed stylised but instantly recognisable, and the modules could be combined or expanded into complete cityscapes, letting Kolumbus tell one coherent story about a greener, more sustainable future across any format.

Results

The system gave Kolumbus's staff and presenters a clear, reusable way to communicate the company's mobility mission, wherever they needed to explain it. The work was also recognised externally, winning Gold at the European Design Awards.
